Thomas Virnich

The catalogue raisonné of Thomas Virnich´s unique multiples can be purchased at the Galerie Löhrl.

It encompasses all editions from 1983 until today, each of them being presented on a spread with an illustration, the corresponding technical details and a precise description.

Over the course of 20 years of artistic activity, Thomas Virnich has regularly published editions which differ from conventional multiples: instead of simply repeating a given form, the respective objects are always crafted individually. Thus, every object of the editions is a unicum.

The complete collection of the unique multiples in possession of Galerie Löhrl is being exhibited at the Argauer Kunsthaus, Museum Wiesbaden and the Skulpturenmuseum Glaskasten Marl.

In his works, Thomas Vernich deals with the alternation of inside and outside, surface and volume, positive and negative forms - he plays around and coats found and man-made objects, he wraps and casts them, approaching the sculptural body both on an internal and external level.

The artist´s works most commonly consist of everyday objects or several kinds of finds that he disassembles, casts, paints, multiplies and reassembles in different variations.
